Hire a car in Cordoba

Once the centre of medieval Europe, Cordoba’s past is filled with tales of glory.

The city was the core of the Moorish empire during the 8th century and its former splendor can still be seen through its main attraction, La Mezquita (the great mosque). The city today also draws heavy influence from its Jewish and Roman heritage, creating a unique and intriguing landscape.

If you’re looking for an eruption of full Spanish culture, visit in May during fiesta season, when all parts of the city come together.

Where to drive

Jaen

Neighbouring the province of Cordoba is Jaen, Andalucia’s beautiful rural territory. Set amongst the area’s vast olive groves and mountains about an hour and a half from Cordoba, is the underrated capital city, known by the same name.

Though often overlooked, the city’s commanding castle and Renaissance cathedral make it evident Jean has played a significant role throughout history. Peer over the Andalucian countryside from the castle and behold Spain’s last surviving Moorish baths. Here, it is still possible to experience the traditional lifestyle of the region, as the city is regarded as the world capital of olive oil.

Jaen also rivals Granada as the place to indulge in free tapas, just order a drink from one of the local tapas bars and they'll bring you a plate (some of these establishments date back to the 1880s).
