Dwelling of the Believer
Maurice was a brave boy. In the 4C, the legionnaire and Christian refused to slay his co-religionaries, costing him his life. Canonised afterwards, his arms that is, representing a crossing - put up on the South façade of this 14C hotel, which was the home of the clerc of the military and religious order created by good king René.

Château de Serrant
This Renaissance castle, begun in 1546 by Charles de Brie and surrounded by wide moats, is stunningly attractive. Note the symmetry of the courtyard, the main building and its two wings, and the round towers crowned with domes. The furniture inside is outstanding, particularly in the apartments. The magnificent library houses some 12 000 volumes. The owners' refined taste is even visible in the kitchens. Don't miss the chapel designed by Mansart.

St.Maurice's Cathedral
The door which has been mutilated several times, is nevertheless adorned with some spellbindingly beautiful statues. Inside, note the Angers style arches, which are very distinct. The ogival keystone is situated 2m above the formeret keystones and joists. (elsewhere they are all the same height). The Cathedral also has some superb stained-glass windows , whose blue and red light illuminates the chancel.

Saint-Aubin Tower
This 12C belfry serves as a constant reminder of the Benedictine abbey of Saint-Aubain established in the 6C.
