This superb residence modified in the 15 and 18C retains a number of architectural elements that were typical of noble homes in Barcelona, during the medieval period, inspired by the palaces of Italian traders. The balconies in wrought iron where added after the bare, solemn façade. The central patio with a staircase that leads to the upper floor, completes the lesson in sobriety with its open arches, decorative moulding and utensils that recall the trading past of the owners.

This old Gothic hospital (14C) transformed by Miguel Utrillo at the start of the 20C was originally designed to house the collection of the American billionaire, Charles Deering, who financed its restoration. Since 1970 it has housed some pieces donated by Dr Jesus Perez Rosales. The building is enriched with Gothic Mosaics, such as that by San Miguel de la Torre, and displays some very varied pieces, Gothic retables, baroque sculptures and art nouveau as well as Renaissance furniture.

Its main attractions are a Foucault pendulum, the planetarium and halls devoted to perspective, perception and meteorology, where you can try the experiments. Surprisingly, thehigh voltage workshop allows you to see a match burst into flame by itself or hair react to the effects of a weak electrical discharge!
