S. Croce (Basilica of the Holy-Cross)
By several architects and representative of the Lecce Baroque style of the 16 and 17C. The facade which is sumptuously but not overbearing (the upper part) conceals a long narrow and bright interior, which is similar to the style inaugurated in Florence by Briunellesch. It has a Baroque decor which is extremely finely worked and extremely lavish. In the chapel at the end of the left aisle, there is a lovely high-altar with low-reliefs carved by Francesco Antonio Zimbalo.
