http://calgarystampede.com Visitors planning a trip to Calgary should try and coincide their trip with the Calgary Stampede. This event is without doubt the moist fun I had during my travels around North America. The Calgary Stampede is essentially a huge festival of events, exhibitions and rodeo held each year in Calgary. Apparently it is the biggest annual event to be held in Canada and I'm not surprised - it's a hoot. Calgary basically comes to a halt for the duration of the festival and there is so much going on that it is literally a great time and place to visit. Calgary is a great place to visit anyway, but during Stampede time it is particularly good - I liken it to Edinburgh during the festival. I've also been to Calgary in the Winter and visited many of the ski resorts dotted around Alberta - Banff and Lake Louise will spring to mind immediately and although the area is a lot calmer than during the Stampede, it is a great place for a ski holiday or generally just driving around and seeing the sights and the scenery. - Sarah, Scotland
