Riviera Ligure
The Italian or Ligurian Riviera extends from Ventimiglia to the Gulf of La Spezia. Protected by the Alps and Apennines, it has a mild climate much enjoyed by tourists. To the west of Genoa, smart resorts (San Remo, Bordighera) alternate with medieval villages (Noli, Albenga). To the east, the coast is steeper and includes promontories (Portofino and Cinque Terre) as well as seaside resorts and old towns of the likes of Rapallo and Portovenere. Difficult to choose between the well-preserved coast and the unspoilt beauty of the hinterland!

Promontorio di Portofino
The rugged, rocky peninsula of Portofino features an indented coastline dotted with tiny sheltered bays. Part of the peninsula has been designated a nature reserve to protect the fauna and flora. Numerous footpaths, some scenic roads such as those leaving from Santa Margherita to Portofino or San Lorenzo delle Costa, belvederes of the likes of Portofino Vetta, Punta della Chiappa and the little fishing villages of Comogli and San Fruttuoso will all introduce you to this delightful peninsula.
