Aaron the Jew's House <!-- AttractionsAndLeisureActivities isempty -->

This house was built about 1170 at around the same time as the Jews' House. It has a fine, restored Norman window. Aaron, one of the most prosperous bankers in England, never actually lived here.

Captain Cook Birthplace Museum <!-- Museums isempty -->

This very well arranged museum was recently renovated to receive the latest interactive installations. It stands near the place where the naval college of Captain Cook was and discovers his youth, his naval career, his journeys to Canada and Australia, and his three journeys across the Pacific, from 1768-1789.

National Fishing Heritage Centre <!-- AttractionsAndLeisureActivities isempty -->

The hardships of a fisherman's life are brought to life in a detailed illustration of work on a trawler, including simulations of sailing in freezing temperatures and standing on a heaving deck at night when the catch is landed. Retired fishermen act as guides on a tour of the trawler, Ross Tiger, which includes the engine room, the skipper's cabin, the crew's quarters and the hold.

Doddington Hall <!-- AttractionsAndLeisureActivities isempty -->

Built by Robert Smythson, the Hall is late-Elizabethan, E-shaped and outward looking, abandoning the traditional internal courtyard. With the exception of the Parlour, the interior was fully refurbished in 1764 by Thomas Lumby, a local builder. The stairs are Lumby's masterpiece. The superb Long Gallery has displays of paintings and porcelain.
