Local History Museum <!-- Museums isempty -->

Several rooms in the museum devoted to Vera's history contain archaeological collections. Others focus on the region's ethnography.

Los Genoveses Beach <!-- AttractionsAndLeisureActivities isempty -->

Set on the edge of Jan José in a large bay, the beach with its shallow water is ideal for families. You have to go a long way from the shore before getting out of your depth.

Parish Church <!-- ReligiousBuildings isempty -->

The 15C church, very near the square, bears the arms of King Philip II (with the twin-headed eagle) on its bell-tower. Inside there is a fine artesonado (coffered) ceiling characteristic of the Mudéjar style (the style of buildings constructed by Arab craftsmen in Christian territory).

Sierra de los Filabres <!-- UrbanAndNaturalAreas isempty -->

The Sierra de los Filabres is crossed by winding roads that offer views of quarries where the famous white Macael marble is still extracted. The quarrying has resulted in the formation of artificial peaks, gigantic heaps of discarded stone piled high. This part of the province of Almería is striking for the bareness of its landscape and its majestic shapes. Centred round Macael are a host of fine villages, such as Albánchez, Cóbdar, Chercos, Chercos Viejo and Tahal.
