Place de la Carrière
This long square used to be for horse training and dates back to the ducal period, but was redesigned by Héré. It is surrounded by lovely 18C private mansions and each corner is adorned with a fountain. At each end, there are gates by Lamour, with its lantern brackets.

Cathedral of St Stephen
The cathedral, built of yellow Jeumont stone, is a remarkable Gothic edifice, steeped in history, legends and piety. The nave is one of the highest in France but it is particularly renowned for its windows, which occupy a surface area of 6 500sq m, hence the cathedral's nickname of «God's lantern». Master glassmakers of every period are represented, ranging from Hermann of Munster (14c) to Marc Chagall, not forgetting Jacques Villon and Roger Bissière.
