Church of the Holy Sepulchre <!-- HistoricStreetsAndDistricts isempty -->

One of the four Norman round churches in England, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, was founded by Simon de Senlis, veteran of the First Crusade, with a circular nave and ambulatory.

Claydon House <!-- CivilAndHistoricArchitecture isempty -->

An extravagant rococo building by Hugh Lightfoot. The finest eccentricities of this house are the staircase (fine panels of ebony, ivory, boxwood and mahogany) and the wooden gothic style of the Chinese room. More conventional but just as fine are the oil paintings by Mytens and Van Dyck.

Castle <!-- HistoricStreetsAndDistricts isempty -->

The Great Hall, which dates from 1150, is now hidden behind the façade of the Law Courts, built in 1695. The Turreted Gateway (1423), gutted during riots in 1832, leads into the Newarke ("new work"), a walled extension added to the castle fortifications by Henry, Earl of Lancaster.

Castle <!-- CastlesOrStatelyHomes isempty -->

Built on the banks of the Avon on the site of a Norman mound and interior courtyard, which originally were probably a Saxon fort, the castle was the headquarters of the Counts of Warwick. Fine gardens designed by Capability Brown in 1750 have been planted on the hillock, together with gardens by Victorian gardener Robert Marnock. The courtyard walls and guardroom date back to the 14C, the Bear Tower and Clarence Tower from the 15C.
