If you're going to Orlando car hire is a must. It's all too easy to get theme parked out, despite the enthusiasm of the kids and getting out of the main resort areas is a great way to break free from that. Venturing out to the beaches on the Gulf of Mexico is great way to spend a couple of days - a world away from the roller coasters and rides. Clearwater and St Petersburg are well worth a look to get that much needed respite. Over on the East side of the state, the Kennedy Space Centre is a great, slightly more sophisticated attraction that the kids and adults can both enjoy. Driving in Florida is pretty easy and enjoyable and allows you to see a little bit more than the theme parks have to offer. - Chris McNair, Glasgow
