Caerphilly Castle
Constructed in 1268, this castle was the first in Britain to be built on a regular concentric plan. The design of its walls, towers and gateways embodied many innovative features, and it served as a model for the castles Edward I was shortly to build in North Wales. It has undergone restoration on several occasions. The visitor's approach to the castle is via the long East Barbican, a fortified dam separating the outer moat from the inner moat and its flanking lakes.

Maritime and Industrial Museum
The museum is in a remarkably well arranged warehouse, showing various objects and containing a completely restored weaving workshop. Several decommissioned boats, including a lightboat, are moored in the docks and historical cars from the Mumbles Tram Society are on show in a hangar.
