Car hire in the UK can be surprisingly rewarding. It's not a country that immediately strikes you as being a prominent drivng destination, but as a fairly small country with a definitive mix of urban and rural, hiring a car whilst on holiday can let you see a bit more of the country and its culture than spending 2 weeks in London would allow. Even as little as an hour outside of London there are some attrative driving routes - the south coast of England with its traditional sea side resorts and gently rolling countryside aran attractive proposition. Further afield the west country counties of Cornwall and Devon offer more sea and sand, and occasionally some sun. For those planning a longer stay in the UK, car hire is great way to get further afield. The Highlands and Islands of Scotland are actually a great driving experience. Quiet and open - if sometimes winding and narrow roads - scenery and history are dotted around all over the region. You can even get the ferry across to various little islands each with their own character. For visitors to the UK I can offer one piece of advice - get out of London if you can for a few days to enjoy the country to the full extent! - Tiago, Portugal
