Austria’s cities are known for their rich histories and cultural attractions, and you’ll find many attractions, shops, restaurants and bars to keep you entertained. However, hiring a car will allow you to visit some of the many attractions and scenic places outside of the city, or to stay in two different places, using your rental car to travel between them.

If you’re staying in Salzburg, you can use your rental car to get to the stunning Werfen Ice Caves or Mauterndorf Castle, whilst if you are using Innsbruck as a base, using a hire car will enable you to visit the town of Bregenz on the banks of Lake Constance or take a tour of the beautiful Sellrain Valley.

Austria is a land of mountains and meadows, and whatever time of year you visit, the scenery is wonderful. You can use an airport rental car to get to some of the country’s excellent ski resorts, such as Lech, Sölden, Flachau, Zell am See and Kitzbühel, which offer a wide range of sports throughout the year. You can also explore the countryside with a hire car tour of Hohe Tauern National Park or drive to the glacial Kaprun Valley to visit the Mooserboden and Wasserfallboden reservoirs.
