Orlando – The City
Orlando is a great choice for a family hire car holiday, and there are hotels and
apartments to suit all budgets, particularly in the popular Lake Buena Vista and
International Drive areas.
Orlando’s main attractions are located south of the city and using a rental car
makes travelling between them easy. The Walt Disney World Resort is in Lake Buena
Vista and covers a vast area. There are four main Disney parks - Epcot, The Magic
Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park - together
with the Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach water parks, two shopping areas and Disney’s
Wide World of Sport Complex. Even if you are staying in one of the many Disney hotels,
the quickest and easiest way to get from park to park is in a rental car.
SeaWorld Orlando, Discovery Cove, Wet ‘n Wild, and the Universal Studios resort,
which incorporates Universal’s Islands of Adventure® and Universal Studios Florida®,
are located to the north of the Walt Disney World Resort. It will take at least
20 minutes to drive there, so a rental car is essential.
You can also use your rental car to explore International Drive, which has outlet
malls and designer boutiques, as well as attractions such as Titanic The Experience,
where you can learn more about the famous ship and see recreations of her rooms
and the Grand Staircase.
Attractions in the Orlando Area
Orlando is packed with family attractions but you can explore more of Florida in
a rental car. The spectacular Kennedy Space Center, for example, is just over an
hour’s drive away from Orlando and is the perfect place to go for a day trip during
your car hire holiday.
It will only take about 90 minutes to get to Tampa Bay from Orlando in your rental
car. Tampa Bay’s best-known attraction is Busch Gardens, which has a wide range
of animals, and some great rides and shows. However, Tampa Bay also has many other
attractions, so it’s worth breaking up your Orlando car hire holiday with a stay
there. Visit Lowry Park Zoo, The Florida Aquarium and the University of South Florida
Botanical Gardens, or watch the Tampa Bay’s NFL team, the Tampa Buccaneers, at the
Raymond James Stadium.
Jump into your rental car and head off to one of Florida’s excellent beaches, such
as St. Petersburg Beach and the nearby Clearwater Beach. You could also spend a
day at Daytona Beach and see the famous Daytona International Speedway.
