It goes without saying that when you visit Orlando, you have to go to Walt Disney World. Home of much-loved characters like Cinderella, Mickey Mouse and Mary Poppins, this giant resort has entertainment for people of all ages. Made up of several different theme parks, Disney World has water rides, roller coasters and even a safari. Whether you love animals, huge water slides or old-fashioned white-knuckle rides, a smile is pretty much guaranteed for the whole family.
Universal Studios offers you the chance to get up close and personal with all your favourite movies. Don't miss the incredible Wizarding World of Harry Potter for the chance to try some Butterbeer and take a ride on a broomstick with all the characters from the films/books. Islands of Adventure is the home to the classic Jurassic Park area, as well as the terrifying Incredible Hulk Coaster - not for the faint-hearted. For thrills and giggles in equal amounts, the theme parks in Orlando are the places to visit.
There are so many places to eat in Orlando, you will be spoilt for choice. Check out IHOP (International House of Pancakes) for great breakfasts and be sure to visit at least one steakhouse during your stay. The Lone Star Steakhouse offers some of the best steaks around, as well as their Texas Rose onion dish that needs to be seen to be believed. Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. is the place to go for great seafood, situated inside the Universal CityWalk park.
America has some amazing roads that are perfect for driving so if there's one place where it's worth upgrading your hire car this is it. Cruise around in a Camaro or Mustang and enjoy the beautifully flat, smooth roads. Head out of town to Tampa on the west coast for a change of scenery. If you like American Football, check out the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers stadium, owned by the same family who own Manchester United Football Club. You'll also find the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino in Tampa, as well as the beach. Miami Beach is a popular destination for cyclists so consider renting a bike for the afternoon and taking a trip along the coastline.
If you do fancy a bit of a beach holiday, head over to Miami. It's a bit of a long drive, but if you incorporate it into your holiday, it becomes an adventure in itself. Stop off along the way for gas and explore what the local counties have to offer. Miami has some great facilities for snorkelling and scuba diving so be sure to look into the water sports on offer when you get there. Swimming with dolphins is another experience you won't want to miss. There are various options you can go for so make a booking before you go.
