Key European hubs are being targeted by London City Airport in a bid to increase inbound growth and beyond, reports Breaking Travel News.
Passengers from Barcelona, Madrid, Dublin, Geneva, Munich, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stockholm are all being earmarked as growth drivers for the airport, which saw three million travellers pass through last year.
This may come as good news for airport amenities like car rental firms, as strong growth will undoubtedly be on the agenda over the course of the next 12 months.
In order to drive growth, London City Airport sales managers will target corporate partners, travel management companies and businesses communities "in their home markets"; helping to raise awareness about the airport.
In addition, the opportunities provided by events like the Queen's Jubilee, the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Airport's 25th Anniversary will be growth drivers in terms of inbound passengers.
Matthew Hall, chief commercial officer at London City airport, commented on the drive on e-tid.com: "We are doing all we can to back London as a must-visit destination this year and beyond and this injection into overseas resources will highlight the many unique and exciting attractions that the capital has to offer for first-time travellers as well as returning visitors.
"It will also emphasise London City Airport's unique position in the heart of the capital's financial district and location just three miles from the Olympic Stadium," he added.
