Best time to visit
With gloriously hot summer weather, Corsica sees an overwhelming number of tourists during July and August. Book your car rental and accommodation well ahead if you visit then. Travel on the shoulder months, in the spring or autumn for smaller crowds and stretches of beach to yourself.
Language
The official language of Corsica is French, however, a small percentage of the population speaks Corsican. English is understood in the touristy areas, but not widely outside of that.
Food
A mix of French and Italian influences plus a dash of its own character, Corsican cuisine is a well balanced delicacy. Your list of must-trys should include brocciu – a soft mozzarella cheese made from ewe’s milk, and civet de sanglier – a stew of boar, vegetables chestnuts and red wine.
Water
The water that runs out of Corsica’s taps is excellent quality, as it comes from the mountain streams. So, don’t waste money on bottled water.

Cap Corse
The rocky peninsula of Cap Corse, located in the far north of the island, is a mere 25 miles long and its coastal road is the island’s top drive. The road hugs the very edge of the cliffside, winding its way along from one small village to the next.
The route is a challenging, and sometimes terrifying drive, but it rewards with spectacular views. On the East Coast you’ll pass by rolling green hills, while the West Coast will stun you with dramatic cliffs that drop into the sea and hairpin turns.
Start your drive in Bastia and end your road trip in Saint Florent (or vise versa). Although the peninsula is small, it can easily fill a day.
