Embrace nature

Trekking Farma Cliffs

Located away from the resorts on the northwest coast of Lanzarote, Farma beach is best known for its surf and stunning 500 meter high backdrop of rock walls. But where the cliffs meet the sea, a series of hiking trails will give you a different perspective of the coastline.

A guided tour can take you from the town of Ye, lead you to La Corona volcano and on to the highest point of Farma Cliffs. Walking along the edge of the cliff provides stunning views of the Chinijo Archipelago and Farma Beach from above.

If you’re interested in something a little more thrilling, you can hang glide over the cliffs to get a birds-eye view of the spectacular landscape.

Volanic Lanzarote

Timanfaya National Park

Take in otherworldly landscapes at Timanfaya National Park, one of the most bizarre yet spectacular scenes on earth. Solidified lava flows create extraordinary formations while intensely hot temperatures bubble just below the surface. You’ll feel like you’ve just taken a trip to the moon.

Also known as the Fire Mountains, a series of continuous eruptions during the late eighteenth century destroyed the island’s best farmland, leaving hundreds of colourful volcanic cones in its place.

The natural viewpoint at Montaña Rajada gives you uninterrupted views of the rolling lava fields, stretching to the sea. Although you can’t explore the area by yourself, you can opt for a bus tour, camel safari or free guided walking tour around the park.

Hidden secrets

The work of locally born artist and architect, César Manrique, is scattered about the island. One of the most notable and influences in the development of Lanzarote, Manrique took an ecological approach to building his visionary projects. He united art with nature to create a feeling of harmony and much of the island’s outstanding aesthetics is in thanks to his skill.

You can learn more about Manrique and immerse yourself in his style by touring sites including the Cactus Garden, the Jameos del Agua, as well as his former home.
