Hire a car in Chambery
A medieval crossroad city in the mountains, Chambery is a destination too often forgotten.
Although Chambery was once the capital of Savoy and an important point en route through the Alps, today, it is overlooked in favour of other alpine cities. But the town’s old centre and vaulted passageways are truly atmospheric (and uncrowded). Likewise, Chambery’s food and architecture is far from boring, boasting a distinct mix between French and Italian styles.
One of the town’s best features though, is its surrounding landscape. With the Chartreuse Mountains, France’s largest freshwater lake and ski slopes just in the distance, there’s plenty of reasons for a road trip.
