In medieval times, Northampton’s central location gave it an important role in the history of England. The site of many battles and of the Queen Eleanor Cross, the town still bears the marks of its rich heritage. Castle Railway Station sits on the ruins of Northampton’s castle where parliaments were held until it was demolished by Charles II.
