A bit about Budget
The well-known company, Budget Car Rental, was founded in 1958 by Morris Mirkin. As the name suggests, Budget was established with good value services in mind. The brand aims to look after value-conscious travellers and now operates in over 120 countries. Budget Car Rental is the third biggest car hire company in the world, offering cars in 3,150 locations. New branches are still being announced regularly. On top of this, the brand manages the second largest truck rental service in America.
Budget age requirements
How old do you have to be to rent a car from Budget?
In the UK, the minimum age to rent a Budget vehicle is 23 years old. Drivers ages 23-24 must pay a young driver surcharge of £32.50 per day, for up to 10 days.
Those under 25 may only rent small, economy or compact cars.
Anyone renting a vehicle, including young drivers, have to have held their licence for at least 2 years.
Young drivers between the ages of 21-24 years old may rent a vehicle from a Budget branch in France.
If you are under 25, you must pay a young driver fee of €32.6 per day, up to a maximum of €326 and have held your licence for one year.
In Switzerland, drivers must be at least 21 years of age to rent a vehicle with Budget. Unlike most other locations however, there is no young driver surcharge. So those under 25 will pay the same daily rate as all other renters.
Regardless of age all drivers must have held their full licence for a minimum of half a year, and for select vehicles, three years.

Deposits
In order to collect your rental you'll have to leave a secuity deposit. The amount will vary depending on the type of car you select and where you pick up your rental. Typically, larger, more expensive vehicles will have a higher deposit and excess rate.
