Hever Castle
This romantic castle was once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII’s most notorious wife, and later bestowed to his fourth wife – Anne of Cleves. Surrounded by a double-moat, Italian-style gardens and maze, the 13th century castle has a rich and enchanting 700 year history.
Leeds Castle
Leeds Castle is one of the most majestic ancient sites in Kent, and possibly the whole of England. Since 1086, a castle has been on the land, passing through the hands of different members royalty. During the Tudor era, it was home to Henry VIII’s first wife, Catherine of Aragon. It eventually evolved into a Jacobean country house and then a Georgian mansion. The castle you see today was mostly constructed in the 19th century and is one of the most visited historic buildings in Britain. With 500 acres of gardens and a deep waterway circling the castle, it feels like it belongs in a fairytale.

Maidstone
In the heart of Kent, Maidstone is a historically important settlement. Connected to neighbouring cities by the River Medway, it was part of the main route for pilgrims. It is home to heritage sites, including Leeds Castle, as well as countryside attractions, vineyards and villages.
Dover
While the the centre of Dover itself, which was badly bombed during World War II, is not much to see, the area’s famous White Cliffs of Dover are spectacular. The steep chalk cliffs offer excellent coastal walks, and (if needed) inspiration. Dover castle is a key point of interest too, that makes the port town a worthy road trip stop.
Isle of Sheppey
A small island off the coast of Kent, it has long been a popular holiday destination. It holds a rich maritime history and is the birthplace of british aviation. Alongside lovely beaches to lounge on, it has a great many number of marshes and wildlife spots.
