Europe’s entrypoint to Africa, Tangier has a captivating charm and alluring history.
Located just two miles south of Spain, its strategic location has garnered the city plenty of attention. During its time as an international zone, overseen by numerous different countries, Tangier attracted a wealth of foreign expatriates and travellers.
It became a haven for artists and writers, as well as European vices, which led to its infamous reputation and eventual neglect. Tangier, however, is once again working its way to become a North African powerhouse. As distances between major cities and attractions are spread far apart, renting a car with easyCar will help you make the most of your trip to Morocco.

Rif mountains
For rugged and remote, the Rif Mountains are an unbeatable road trip. Morocco’s northernmost mountain range, the region extends from Tangier to the border of Algeria, along Morocco’s Mediterranean coast.
Although it is not one of Morocco’s most notable or tallest mountain ranges, it is still dramatic and wild. One of the more popular treks for tourists is out to Akchour to view the waterfall. This beautiful region will likely give you a different perspective of Morocco, one that is hilly and lush, rather than sandy and dry.
To reach the mountains, first drive two hours to the unmistakably blue city of Chefchaouen. From there you can hire a guide for your trek.
