A memorable trip
E.T. Highway
If you’re seeking something out of the ordinary - yes, stranger than the Strip - head out of the city to Nevada’s Extraterrestrial Highway. It’s the place where the state’s fixation with UFOs, nuclear testing and aliens comes to life. You might even experience something out of the ordinary.
The highway is a 160km stretch of road on the Nevada State Route and is possibly one of the quirkiest, as well as loneliest, drives in the USA.
Littered amongst the barren regions of roadside are a few interesting alien themed stops. You can pick up some E.T. Fresh Jerky, grab a bite or stay overnight at the Little A’Le’Inn motel, and check out the Alien Research Centre for kitschy memorabilia.
At the core of the Extraterrestrial Highway is Area 51. Photography is strongly prohibited at the Air Force base, and the guards who enforce this rule may scare you more than the aliens themselves.
