Arty vibes

The city with style

Design, art and fashion have become the beating heart of Miami and as a result, the city now houses some of the coolest arts neighbourhoods in the USA.

Wynwood Art District
The once bleak and bare warehouses of Wynwood are now a major Miami art statement.Transformed into colourful canvases, murals and street art were the original spark, which generated an artistic renaissance in the area. The eclectic district is hub for art galleries – there are over 70 – as well as creative enterprises.

Design District
The Design District is the more upscale, modern version of the indie Wynwood District. The visual offerings of the neighbourhood, which complement the urban and tropical elements of Miami, have attracted restaurateurs and fashion labels to set up shop. It is home to exhibition spaces of experimental works and the futuristic-looking Institute of Contemporary Art. Even if you don’t fancy spending hours in an art gallery, outdoor public art installations will certainly catch your attention.

Neighbourhood delights

Little Havana

Cubans began migrating to southern Florida in the 1950s. It was during the 60s though, when migrant numbers swelled, that the area gained the name Little Havana.

Centred around the Calle Ocho strip, this atmospheric neighbourhood is a lively reflection of the rich Cuban culture. There are plenty of cigar shops, music reverberates from radios everywhere, and a feast of famous culinary delights awaits. The Azucar Ice Cream Company, home to Cuban ice cream flavours, is a fan favourite.

The Latin infused bars here are among the best in Miami and the area’s live shows will have you dancing through the night. The Ball and Chain lounge is a famed establishment, having hosted jazz acts including Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.
