How old do you have to be to rent a car from Sixt?
When renting a vehicle with Sixt in the UK, you must be at least 21 years old and have held your licence for one year.
A young driver surcharge of £36 applies to all renters under the age of 25. However, further age and licence restrictions apply to select vehicle categories (i.e. you must be over 25 to rent premium cars).
There is no maximum age limit for hiring a car in the UK with Sixt.
In Cyprus, you must be a minimum of 21 years old and have held your full licence for three years to rent a car with Sixt.
For those between the ages of 21-25, there is a young driver fee of €5.75 per day (excluding tax) that must be paid in addition to the daily rental cost.
Likewise, senior drivers 71-75 must pay a surcharge of €5.75 per day (excluding tax) when renting a vehicle with Sixt. If you are over 75, you will not be able to hire a car.
In Portugal, drivers as young as 19 may rent a vehicle with Sixt as long as they have held their licence for at least one year.
Young drivers between the age of 21-24 must pay a surcharge of €10 per day, up to maximum of €100 per rental.
Additional age restrictions apply to certain models of car, so double check the terms and conditions when booking.

Cross border car rental with Sixt
Thinking of a European road trip? Sixt allows most of its passenger vehicles to be driven into and dropped off in neighbouring countries. Just remember, you must inform your pick-up branch of your plans to travel abroad as they need to grant you permission to cross country boundaries.
A cross border car rental or one-way fee will also apply to your journey. The price will depend on your destination.
