A bit about Thrifty
Thrifty Car Rental was established in 1958 and is a well-known international brand. The company is a franchise operating around 1,000 stores in 77 countries. Just under half of Thrifty locations are in the US and Canada; the rest are spread across the globe. As its name would suggest, Thrifty caters to business and leisure travellers who want to save money. In 2012, the Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group was acquired by Hertz Global Holdings.
Thrifty age requirements
How old do you have to be to rent a car fromThrifty?
In Greece, drivers between the ages of 21-24 are easily able to hire a car with Thrifty.
Unlike most other locations, if you are under 25, you do not have to pay any additional charges when renting a car from Thrifty. But you must be over 25 to rent larger sized and more expensive vehicles.
All renters, regardless of age, must also have held their full licence for one year.
In Spain, you must be 21 and older and have held a full licence for at least one year in order to rent with Thrifty.
However, renters under the age of 25 are subject to a young driver surcharge of €15 per day, up to €150 (excluding tax).
Those between 21-24 are only able to rent smaller sized vehicles. Over 25’s are free to rent whichever class of car they choose.
In France, those 21 and over can rent a car, so long as they have held their full licence for a minimum of one year.
Drivers between the age of 21-24 must pay a young driver surcharge of €48.04 per day, up to a maximum of €490.03 per rental.
